South High Graduation Rate Increases by 11%!

Denver Public Schools' increases in the on-time graduation rate with Denver South High School leading in the statewide jump in graduation percentage.

SCHOOL PERFORMANCE FRAMEWORK: South has earned a rating of Meets Expectations (green) on the School Performance Framework. The hard work of students and faculty at South has improved the school's performance by 12% in 3 years.

SPRING FINAL EXAM SCHEDULE RELEASED: Spring course final exams will take place from June 2nd through June 5 for all 9th-11th grade students. Please click here to view the schedule

TECHNOLOGY NEWS FOR SOUTH: Starting in the fall, all 9th grade students at South will receive a Kindle Fire HD to use in their classes. The Fires will be used as a part of blended learning at South. 9th grade academic classes will begin using online course rooms to deliver learning materials and activities instead of the more traditional paper based ones. Going digital will allow teachers in increase individualized learning opportunities for all 9th graders. Students and teachers will also be able to use the Fires open digital communications through DPS Google accounts. South High School will be the first high school in Denver to put tablets and blended learning in place for an entire grade level. We are excited to introduce this innovative 21st century learning model to the Denver community! Click here to learn more about digital learning at South.

SOUTH'S ANNUAL CULTURE FEST! : South High School's annual culture fest will be held on Friday, April 25th at 6:00 pm. This year, we are inviting community members, parents and anyone who would like to join us in celebrating the various cultural backgrounds of our South students through performances, informational displays, personal interactions, and other activities. BOYS AND GIRLS BASKETBALL FUTURES TRYOUTS:  Any 8th graders interested in playing for the Rebels Futures team this summer needs to attend tryouts on April 22nd and 24th . SOFTBALL RETURNING TO SOUTH: Attention all Softball players:  We’re Back! The Rebels will be back in competition with our new softball program! Come meet our new coach, LouAnn Guiden.  We are hosting a very important Player and Parent meeting Thursday, May 1st at 6pm in room 173.

ELA PARENT MEETING:  Please join us from 5:15-6:00 pm in the second floor library Friday, April 25th before the Culture Fest.  We will discuss this year's highlights and next year's plan for our ELA Families.  Come and celebrate with us and stay for the Culture Fest to celebrate our diversity at South High School!

FREE SOCCER CLINIC!  FRIDAY, APRIL 25TH:  This clinic is for ages 6-13 years old and it's FREE!  The time is 4:00-6:00 pm on the soccer field here at South.  This clinic will be an excellent opportunity for young athletes to progress in the sport of soccer.  This is a great opportunity for our South student athletes to reach out to the community and give back as young role models and mentors.  Our clinic will be an introduction to our August Summer Camp beginning August 6th - 8th.  Contact Kenny Wood for further information or questionsThis e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
