School of Choice - Round #1
January 1 - January 31
This first School of Choice round is for students who want to attend South but do not live in the South area. In order to 'choice' into South in January, you may go to any DPS school and pick up a choice form. Fill out that form and return it to that school. All forms will go downtown and eventually to South High School. This first round of choice will guarantee your student a spot during the upcoming school year.
School of Choice - Round #2
February 1 - August 31
This second School of Choice round is for students who want to attend South but do not live in the South area. In order to 'choice' into South from February - August, you must physically go to South High School and pickup a Round Two Choice form. Fill out the form at the school and leave it with the registrar, Connie Ortiz. With the vast majority of these students, this second round of choice will guarantee you a spot in the upcoming school year.
South Area Students
We will accept any students that live within the South High School boundaries at any time during the school year.
DPS students transferring from September 1 - May 31
Any DPS student that transfers from any DPS high school to South from September 1 - May 31 must do an Administrative Transfer. This paperwork must be picked up in the registrar's office of the school they are leaving. The form must be signed by the principals of both high schools. It is ultimately the principal's decision whether or not to approve an administrative transfer. Administrative transfers are generally not approved the last 9 weeks of a semester.
New students to DPS enrolling from September 1 - September 30
South High School will accept any new students to the district through September as long as they live in the Denver Public Schools area. Simply come to South, see the registrar, Connie Ortiz, and fill out the needed paperwork.
New students to DPS enrolling from October 1 - May 31
In order to attend South High School after September 30, students new to DPS must be approved by a South High School administrator. You may be required to provide behavior and attendance records with this transfer.
What if I live outside the DPS boundaries and want to come to South High School?
If you 'choice' into South from January 1 - August 31, you are able to attend South High School. If you enroll after August 31, you will have to pay tuition. Tuition rates are set and approved by the district and can be viewed at. http://soco.dpsk12.org/Student_Tranfer_forms/Default.aspx
